A-1 Best Computer Has Class!

If you were in our shop this Spring you may have noticed a little construction. We built a 4-person classroom with a cool projector and 4 computers. We get so many questions about how computers work, we figured we’d start offering a class on that very subject. This is more than a class for computer beginners (although a very excellent place to be if you are just starting out). These classes actually give you insight into what is going on inside and why it your computer might be slower than you’d hoped.

These classes can also be customized to answer the specific questions you want answers to. Either way, contact Eric (our General Manager and Head Instructor) at (206) 523-6627 or  This e-mail address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it to learn more.

Computer Caveman

A-1Best Computer has a caveman running around town giving out computer repair discounts to lucky citizens of our fair city. It’s part of their “don’t kill your computer, let us fix it” campaign. You see, the caveman would get so frustrated with his computer that he’d smash it to bits with his club. That is until he went to A-1 Best and got it fixed. It’s a pretty funny campaign and A-1 Best Computer actually threw a big party and made a video of people smashing computers with bats and put it on You Tube. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=wItITdBIQMA

Now I can’t guarantee that the caveman will be smashing stuff, but he’ll be at the Wedgwood Art Festival on July 17th http://wedgwoodfestival.com/default.aspx   and the Maple Leaf Summer Social on July 28th http://www.mapleleafcommunity.org/cc_smr-social_pg.html  handing out computer repair and maintenance discounts to keep you from smashing your computer.

Computer Training for the Absolute Beginner (Seattle)

Our new training room at the Lake City Way (Seattle) store is all finished now, and we're putting the finishing touches on an extensive (yet digestable) training course for absolute beginners.  Some topics covered will be:

  • How to buy a computer?
  • How computers work?
  • What is an operating system?
  • Email
  • Internet
  • Computer maintenance
    ... and much, much more

We formed the training program when we started noticing a lot of customers who had bought new computers and laptops and really didn't know how to use them properly.  Many of the repairs we see here could be easily avoided with a little bit of targeted education.

Our first class will be scheduled in mid-July ... we already have nearly 50 people signed up, so sign-up today by calling 206-523-6627 or just stop by our store on the corner of Lake City Way and 15th, just off of the I-5.

Happy Computing!

p.s. this would be a great gift for that aunt, grandmother, father, daughter or mother-in-law who is getting ready to replace their Windows 95 dinosaur or purchase their first laptop.

Friend or Foe?

Be careful out there! One of our techs had his Yahoo email account hijacked recently. The hacker sent emails to all his contacts with links to phishing websites (phishing websites try to get you to reveal secret information such as your account numbers and passwords).

Emails from your friends may not really be from your friends if their computer has been compromised.

If your “friend” sends you an email advertising Viagra or one that says “check out this funny video” and has a link to an unusual website – BE CAREFUL

(If you received this warning too late, and have already been hit, contact us to get it fixed.)
